Great Wolf Lodge LaGrange, GA Day Pass Review (Birthday Celebration)
We recently celebrated my daughter's 7th birthday at Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia, and overall we had a great experience. This was my third visit to Great Wolf Lodge. I've stayed overnight once and have now purchased day passes twice.
For this birthday celebration, I purchased our day passes through Groupon and rented a cabana directly through the Great Wolf Lodge website. In my opinion, Groupon is the way to go if you're planning a day trip. While the savings aren't always dramatic, the package often includes perks that make it worthwhile.
For our visit, the Groupon package included day passes, pizza, drinks, and access to additional attractions such as bowling, the ropes course, and rock climbing (if you purchase the 4 person day pass). When you factor in those extras, the value becomes much better than simply purchasing day passes through the website.
One piece of advice: arrive early. The water park is the main attraction, but many families don't realize how much else there is to do. Once kids hit the water slides and pools, they usually don't want to leave to participate in the other activities. Getting there early allows you to take advantage of the ropes course, bowling, rock climbing, and other attractions before spending the rest of the day in the water park.
This year, I also rented a cabana because of our experience during a previous visit. Last time, finding seating for a larger group was difficult, and we spent a lot of time moving around or trying to save seats. The cabana solved that problem completely.
The cabana cost approximately $350 and, while it was definitely an added expense, it was worth it for our group. We had a dedicated space to store our belongings, sit down comfortably, relax between activities, and enjoy food and conversation. The cabana included comfortable seating, a fan, and a refrigerator for drinks and snacks. It became our home base throughout the day.
One thing to know is that unless you specifically reserve a certain cabana, you may not know exactly where yours will be located. Ours happened to be near the basketball pool area, which ended up being very convenient. If I return and rent another cabana, I would choose that same location again.
As for food, the prices were about what I expected from a family entertainment destination. They weren't cheap, but they weren't outrageously expensive either. Some menu items felt a little pricey, but having the Groupon pizza included was a huge plus, especially when feeding a group of hungry kids. The pizza was simple, kid-friendly, and exactly what we needed without spending a fortune on additional meals.
We visited in late March during spring break season, so the park was fairly busy, especially during the initial check-in period. Despite the crowds, once we got settled, everyone had a great time.
Our group included more than 10 people ranging in age from 1 year old to 44 years old, and everyone found something to enjoy. The younger children loved the splash areas and slides, while the older kids and adults enjoyed the larger attractions and having a comfortable place to relax between activities.
Would I go back? Absolutely.
Would I pay full price for day passes? Probably not.
The birthday girl said it was a 10/10, so a win is a win :-)
I would definitely purchase through Groupon again, especially when the package includes pizza, drinks, and access to the additional attractions. For families looking to maximize value, it's hard to beat.
Overall Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Great Wolf Lodge continues to be a fun birthday destination for families, and the combination of Groupon day passes and a cabana made this visit one of our best experiences yet. If you're visiting with a larger group and have room in your budget, I highly recommend the cabana. If you're purchasing day passes, check Groupon first—you may get more value for your money and have a much more enjoyable day.
I'll be sure to share another review the next time we stay overnight, but for now, this mom definitely gives the Great Wolf Lodge day pass experience a thumbs up.
